Fire Safety for Older Adults

People over the age of 65 face the greatest risk of dying in a fire. On average, over 1000 Americans age 65 and over die in home fires and 2,000 are injured in fire-related incidences*.

This fire safety fact sheet, created by the U.S. Fire Administration, provides several different precautionary measures you can take to ensure that you and your loved ones are safe at home. Simple steps like making sure your fire alarm has gone through regular maintenance and planning your fire escape route ahead of time can be things you do now that may be life-saving in the future.
