The Mid-America Pension Rights Project (MAPRP) assists clients with pension and 401(k) issues. There are no age or income restrictions and there is never a charge for our services. MAPRP works to find answers and solutions to your pension-related problems. Just ask Mr. D.

Mr. D worked for a company that had long been out of business in the location where Mr. D had worked. Mr. D knew the name of the company, but was unsure as to the union he was a member of or who to contact. Mr. D called MAPRP because he had turned 65 and was ready to collect his pension.  

An attorney was assigned to Mr. D’s case. After doing some research, the attorney contacted the company. Although the particular plant that Mr. D worked for had closed, the attorney was able to find the company’s new location in a different state. The company was not very helpful and eventually was unable to provide the attorney with any information regarding Mr. D’s pension or employment.  

At that point, the attorney sent certified letters to both corporate headquarters and the CEO. The attorney received an immediate response from corporate and an investigation was started. Within two months of the certified letter, Mr. D received a benefit packet for him to complete. Mr. D was paid a retroactive payment of over $2,000 and would receive a monthly benefit of $124.00 for the rest of his life. Mr. D was very grateful that MAPRP was able to locate and initiate his pension benefit.

The Mid-America Pension Rights Project is funded by the Federal government through a grant provided by the Administration for Community Living, and is a program of Elder Law of Michigan, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit.  

Since the program began in 1998, MAPRP has assisted over 12,000 clients and has recovered over 56 million dollars in pension benefits.
