Age Out Loud – Celebrating Older Americans Month

by Dawn Kepler, Project Administrator

Did you know that May is Older Americans Month? The theme “Age Out Loud” is being promoted by the Administration for Community Living this year. With roughly 10,000 people turning 65 years old every day in the United States, Older Americans Month aims to bring awareness to and celebrate how aging looks different today, both compared to the past and varying by individual.

We hope you plan to celebrate Older Americans Month! There are many ways you can get involved:

  • The National Council on Aging is asking people to share their positive anecdotes on aging on their Facebook page.
  • The Southeast Michigan Senior Regional Collaborative and United Way are spearheading a year-round Senior Strong campaign to highlight and celebrate stories about seniors working to better their communities.

You can find more information on Older Americans Month at the Administration for Community Living’s website.
