Meet the Team, Staff Spotlight: Ron Tatro

By Jennifer Blanck, MiCAFE Network Coordinator

Ron Tatro wears many hats at Elder Law of Michigan. He joined the team over 10 years ago. He is the Vice President of Elder Law of Michigan and Director of the Michigan Elder Justice Coordinating Council (MIEJCC).

During his time at Elder Law of Michigan, his favorite project has been working on Elder Abuse Prevention activities and his proudest moment at Elder Law of Michigan  “Seeing Elder Law of Michigan and its staff recognized for their many contributions on behalf of seniors.”

I have had the pleasure of accompanying Ron on meetings outside the office, and his ability to remember faces, names, and small details about the people he meets and organizations he has visited never ceases to amaze me. I sometimes believe he has the memory of an elephant. I think he can remember so well because of his passion to serve, protect, and advocate for the most vulnerable adults in our community.

One of the things that I admire most about Ron is his patience and willingness to teach/mentor.  I started working on a new grant project with him last fall, completely stepping out of my comfort zone. Ron has helped me to grow professionally by teaching me how to write proper emails and reports, how to create flyers and presentations. I have watched him speak publicly, and sat in on many conference calls, which has given me knowledge and a confidence to begin doing a little public speaking myself.

Ron is always looking for the next grant opportunity to help seniors. I am extremely grateful for the chance to work with and learn from him. We are very fortunate to have him on our team.
