The Mid-America Pension Rights Project (MAPRP) assists clients with pension and 401(k) issues. There are no age or income restrictions and there is never a charge for the services. The Pension Project works to find answers and solutions to your pension-related problem. Just ask Ms. X.
Ms. X worked for an employer that had a 401k plan. When she left the company, in the early 90s, she did not take her money. The last statement Ms. X remembers receiving was in the year she left employment. The statement indicated the name of the party that was administering the plan at that time. Other than the last statement, Ms. X had no documents indicating that she had a 401k. Ms. X was positive that she had not taken the money out or transferred it to another fund. Ms. X did a lot of research and called every lead she found. The answer was always the same, there is no account in your name.
Ms. X called the MAPRP hoping that her lost account could be found. The attorney that was assigned to the case started by doing her own research on the former employer’s 401k plan. After many phone calls, letters, and emails the attorney found herself in the same place as Ms. X. Every representative the attorney contacted or was referred to could not give her any information about Ms. X’s account.
Because of the run-around, the attorney decided to send letters directly to upper management at corporate headquarters. Within a short period of time, Ms. X received a postcard indicating where and how to access her 401k. Ms. X was thrilled to finally get what she earned! Pursuant to Ms. X’s last statement, the money within her account had more than quadrupled. Ms. X told the MAPRP that she was sure she would have never received her money had it not been for the help of the MAPRP.
