April is Stress Awareness Month, although some of you might say you’re aware of stress every month. Let’s take some time to focus on what we can do about it. In a culture of instant gratification and feeling like there aren’t enough hours in the day, something as simple as waiting for coffee to brew can make our blood pressure go up.

Stress, especially prolonged, is detrimental to our minds and bodies. The Department of Federal Occupational Health states, “…long-term stress can lead to a wide range of illnesses—from headaches to stomach disorders to depression—and can even increase the risk of serious conditions like stroke and heart disease.”

Fortunately, stress coping techniques are infinite and easy to personalize. Here are some options to reduce stress, but the key is finding what works best for you.
