As part of our intern recruitment efforts, Elder Law of Michigan takes part in career fairs at Michigan’s various law school. In 2014, ELM participated at recruitment fairs in both Detroit and the Lansing area. This year we attended two recruitment fairs with the goal of connecting with law students for summer internship opportunities.
Jadranko Tomic-Bobas, Hotline Managing Attorney, Christopher Jackson, Communications Coordinator, and myself attended the Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School Lansing Campus Job and Career Fair in Downtown Lansing. While at Cooley Law School, we had the opportunity to interview over a half dozen law students interested in assisting seniors as part of the ELM team.
The following week, we, along with Kate Larlee, Hotline Attorney, attended the Michigan State University College of Law Recruitment Fair. In both circumstances, we were hosted in a beautiful building and granted the opportunity to meet and interview a number of exceptional and professional students. We collected around forty resumes and are currently in the process of inviting some of these students to participate in internship opportunities throughout the year.
I would like to thank the Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School Career and Professional Development Office as well as the Michigan State University College of Law Career Services Office for inviting us to these wonderful events and continuing to help us find such splendid candidates. I would also like to invite anyone interested in volunteering to submit a resume to rsavoie@elderlawofmi.org for review.
Check out what some of our current and former interns have to say about interning at Elder Law of Michigan:
