No Senior Without Christmas (NSWC) 2017

By: Michelle Jackson, MiCAFE Network Coordinator

On December 6, 2017, the No Senior Without Christmas (NSWC) project from Tri-County TRIAD packaged 350 boxes for low-income, homebound senior citizens who reside in Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton Counties. The boxes were provided by Two Men and a Truck from Lansing and were packed with daily-living commodities, such as toilet paper, soap, food, candy, blankets, and pillows. Once boxes were packaged by hundreds of volunteers who work and live in the Tri-County area, law enforcement and fire personnel from the Tri-Counties loaded up their vehicles and delivered the boxes to senior citizens’ doors.

Leading up to the delivery day, we were coming up a little short on the donation goal, so we increased our outreach in November, and with the help of many outreach groups and media outlets, we made our goal happen for our big shopping day on December 5, 2017.

It was our goal this year to reach out to 350 low-income seniors with boxes filled with holiday cheer. With the help of donations and volunteers, TRIAD was able to put smiles on hundreds of seniors’ faces.

Please watch this exciting video of the efforts that go into this important event for seniors in our Tri-County area.  This year’s No Senior Without Christmas will be December 6, 2018. Please check TRIAD’s website for updates on this year’s event.
