By Jennifer Blanck, MiCAFE Network Coordinator at Elder Law of Michigan
The Joe D. Sutton Call to Justice Awards honor those that share the mission of Elder Law of Michigan, Inc. to advocate for, educate, and assist those in need, with a continued focus on older adults and persons with disabilities.
On August 14, 2019, Elder Law of Michigan honored five individuals at the West Michigan Call to Justice Awards event held at Founders Brewing Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Call to Justice Awards reception included a cocktail hour featuring hors-d’oeuvres and cash bar, followed by an awards ceremony celebrating our distinguished honorees.
Laura Sutter – Director, AAA Region 3C
Benita Armstrong – APS Supervisor, Calhoun and St. Joseph Counties
Vonda VanTil – Public Affairs Specialist, Social Security Administration
Kelly Laesch – Elder Abuse Specialist, Berrien County Sheriff Department
Kelly Jonker – Ombudsman, South Central Michigan
I find great pleasure in attending these award ceremonies that celebrate the accomplishments of the honorees. The honorees are always humbled by the recognition they receive for following their passion and serving the most vulnerable in the community. Witnessing the camaraderie between the attendees as they congratulate one another and even network is remarkable. I encourage everyone to attend the Call to Justice Awards if they are able.
Elder Law of Michigan would like to thank all the honorees for their hard work and dedication to making a difference in the lives of older adults. For more information on the Joe D. Sutton Call to Justice Awards, please visit the Call to Justice Awards website. Stay tuned for next year’s Call to Justice Awards.
