Keith Morris: Recipient of the 2018 Shoshanna Ehrlich Excellence in Senior Legal Hotlines Advocacy Award

By Jadranko Tomic-Bobas, J.D., Managing Hotline Attorney, and Ashley Jayne, Legal Hotline Intern for Elder Law of Michigan

Congratulations to Keith Morris, who has been awarded this year’s Shoshanna Ehrlich Excellence in Senior Legal Hotlines Advocacy, or “Shoshie,” Award.

The Shoshie Award is voted on by members of the National Association of Senior Legal Hotlines (NASLH), and given annually to a person whose contributions to senior legal hotlines reflect the missions and goals brought to the field by Shoshanna Ehrlich before she retired in 2015.

Keith began working with Elder Law of Michigan, Inc. in August 2000 as a legal hotline volunteer. Within four years, Keith became Elder Law of Michigan’s Director of Operations and Legal Services, and began working with Shoshanna Ehrlich on the Hotline Technical Assistance Project funded by the Administration on Aging, in partnership with the AARP Foundation.

Since that time, Keith has become Elder Law of Michigan’s President and CEO, and is the current Chairperson for NASLH. Keith also serves as the Project Director for the Center for Elder Rights Advocacy (CERA), which is partnered with the National Legal Resource Center.

When asked about Keith, Shoshanna said, “As the leader of CERA at its creation, Keith has been brilliant, energetic, and involved. He is always on the cutting edge, excited to try a new procedure or technology.  I was fortunate to work with CERA long-distance, and it was a blessing to know the project has been in such capable hands.”

This award will be presented to Keith at the National Aging and Law Conference at the Crowne Plaza Old Town in Alexandra, Virginia, which will take place October 24-26, 2018.
